Seasonal Stroll with the Chief Curator

Come stroll Portland Japanese Garden with our Chief Curator, Sadafumi (Sada) Uchiyama. Uchiyama is a fourth-generation Japanese gardener and landscape architect whose been at the Garden for more than 15 years, playing a key role in the construction of the Cultural Village and Entry Garden, and the establishment of Japan Institute and it’s International Japanese Garden Training Center.

Focusing on the seasonal nuances, cultural significance, sensory experience, and nature’s relationship to daily life, this unique tour offers an opportunity for members to interact with Uchiyama and dive into his vast wealth of knowledge that extends beyond the 12 acres of Portland Japanese Garden.
